Scottsdale Orthodontics

Scottsdale Orthodontics

Orthodontics is a special branch of dentistry that focuses solely on correcting problems with the alignment of the teeth and jaws. When this alignment is off, teeth can be crowded or spaced too far apart, crooked, rotated, or out of proper proportion to one another.

This condition is commonly referred to as malocclusion and can cause significant problems with your bite function, speech, long-term oral health, and even your overall appearance. Scottsdale Orthodontics treatments can help to correct these issues and give you a smile you can be proud of!

Orthodontic appliances are created using cutting-edge techniques and materials, such as ceramic braces and clear aligners, which blend in seamlessly with your smile. With a personalized treatment plan from our Scottsdale orthodontist, you can achieve a beautiful and healthy smile that will last a lifetime.

Scottsdale Orthodontics Treatment Options

Traditional Metal Braces

Traditional metal braces are one of the most common types of orthodontic appliances used today. They are made from high-grade stainless steel and are silver in color. The brackets use elastic and/or metal ties to secure them to the teeth and move them into alignment over time.

Though they may be noticeable to others when you are talking or smiling, they are highly effective at correcting a wide range of alignment, spacing, crowding, and bite problems.

Brackets are bonded to the fronts of the teeth, and arch wires are used to guide the teeth into the correct position. Over time, the wires will be changed out as the patient's mouth adjusts to a new position, and a new wire is needed to guide their teeth.

Clear/Ceramic Braces

Ceramic braces are very similar to traditional metal braces in terms of how they work to correct the position of the teeth. Instead of being made from metal, these brackets are made from either a clear or tooth-colored composite resin that is more resistant to staining from foods.

Invisalign

Invisalign is a series of clear, comfortable aligners that shift teeth gradually into the desired alignment. The trays are removable and virtually invisible, making them a popular choice for adults who want a less visible treatment.

Some patients find that their teeth straighten more quickly with Invisalign than with traditional braces. Dr. Jones, our Scottsdale orthodontist, will work with you to determine what type of orthodontic care will be most effective for you.

How Do Scottsdale Orthodontics Work?

Orthodontic appliances, such as braces and Invisalign aligners, work by applying gentle, continuous pressure to your teeth to move them into the proper alignment over time. Your teeth are capable of changing position at any age as long as you wear your orthodontic appliance as instructed by our Scottsdale orthodontist.

Braces use brackets and wires to apply constant pressure and align the teeth; clear aligners apply a controlled force to the teeth via plastic trays. These orthodontic treatments are effective for both children and adults and can correct misalignment of teeth or bite problems. Ask our Scottsdale orthodontist which option may be right for you!
